Dr. Shakir comes from a family deeply rooted in medicine, influenced by his pediatrician father and an uncle in general medicine. His fascination with the brain and the neurological system led him to specialize in Neuro-Psychiatry, an area he considers the "new frontier" of mental health.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Shakir enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and exploring various music genres and cultures. He's an avid reader, particularly of biographies, history, and current events. Apart from these interests, Dr. Shakir dedicates time to coaching youth sports and supporting trauma survivors and refugees. Through the "CARE program for refugees," he teaches Mental Health Management to non-medical volunteers, aiming to make a positive impact on trauma victims.
